The collection consists of a shampoo, conditioner, and root thickening spray. Guys! I can’t even tell you how much I love this set. First off, it smells a-maz-ing. I wasn’t sure about mint almond when I first heard it, but it has this cool, refreshing scent that leaves your hair smelling great all day.
As for the thickening, I was impressed. I naturally have pretty thick hair so I usually stay away from products like this, but due to some health issues my hair has thinned out over the last year or so. This product helps revive it back to what it looked like prior to it thinning. It give your hair some beautiful volume and the root thickening spray livens up flat roots near the scalp. A little bit of these products and a good blow dry, and you’ve got hair that could make beauty queens jealous. Just kidding! But it really does liven up your locks.
Another great set from Hask and if it hits on your hair care issues, I highly recommend trying it out.
My hair stylist is constantly reminding me about the importance that my shampoo and conditioner play in the health of my hair (read: Dana stop buying the 79¢ stuff). So when iFabbo reached out with the opportunity to try Keranique, I thought it would be an opportunity to see if this is the right fit for my daily routine. I ended up being split on the set.
The Keranique Clean & Condition Hair Care Set is meant to stimulate the scalp, including the hair follicles, and increase strength, volume, and thickness. The set runs for $49.95 for both products and comes with a bonus detangling comb. I would say that used properly, there is easily a two month supply in the bottles. The main active ingredient in these products is the Keratin Amino Complex that works to condition the hair without creating build up or weighing it down.
I’ve been using this set for a while now and I’ve found that I’m a bit split. I really enjoy the scalp stimulating shampoo and find that it leaves my hair clean and silky without drying it out. However, I’m not as big a fan of the conditioner. To me it was a bit on the heavier side, and while it didn’t leave a build up, I didn’t get quite the same styling hold after using. I will say that I do have thick hair to begin with, so I am probably not 100% the target market for the conditioner and I can definitely see it working well for someone with finer hair.
Additionally, I was impressed by the clean sent and the ergonomic packaging. Overall, I think it’s a quality product, just not the right fit for me.
March is going to be all about beauty here on the blog and I have loads of products to share to get ready to put away those hats and scarves for spring! First up are some products from new-to-me brand Pura d’or. They sent over a shampoo, conditioner, and argan oil for me to try out and share.
When I first looked up Pura d’or, it was their vision statement that really drew me in and got me excited about this brand.
Our products are artisanally handcrafted by a hybrid team of artists and scientists, not by machines. All our ingredients are grown on trees, not in test tubes. Some say that this is a step backward, but we believe it’s s a step in the direction of how the world should be.
Their products are certified organic and all start with a 100% pure argan oil base. They then incorporate natural ingredients like aloe, calendula, cedar wood, grapefruit, juniper berry, and others to create a range of products to meet different needs.
The three products they sent me to try were the Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Hair Loss Prevention Therapy Shampoo, Premium Organic Argan Oil Based Conditioner, Lavender Vanilla, and 100% Pure Argan Oil.
The first thing I loved about both the shampoo and conditioner is the packaging. The pump bottles are incredibly convenient and dispense an ideal amount of product per pump.
The shampoo has a gel texture and a savory herb scent. It works up well in the hair and rinses clear with no residue. It’s also free from sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), parabens, DEA, gluten, artificial colors, artificial fragrances and harsh preservatives, which is a big bonus in my book. It also formulated to prevent hair loss by using ingredients designed to strengthen hair strands and promote healthy hair growth. I haven’t been using it long enough to see if there’s a difference in this respect, but if it’s a concern for you, I would definitely recommend giving it a try.
This was my favorite of the three products. I absolutely love the lavender vanilla scent, one of my favorite scent combinations. The conditioner has a thick consistency that coats hair strands and delivers lots of moisture. This product also rinses clear and doesn’t leave a residue.
This shampoo and conditioner combination left my hair shiny, smooth, and smelling great and worked a boost of hair healthy ingredients into my routine. You can’t get much better than that!
If you haven’t tried argan oil yet, you’re missing out. This 100% pure and cold pressed argan oil has so many uses. You can use it on to moisturize dry cuticles, diminish the appearance of scars, as a scalp treatment, or as a moisturizer to get smooth skin. This certified organic oil is a high quality product and you will get a ton of use out of a little bottle. The bottles also have eyedropper tops or pumps depending on the size, making the product easy to disperse.
I’m loving these products and am excited to introduce you to Pura d’or. They have more amazing products on their website and are currently offering 20% off to new customers, a free bottle of cold pressed argan oil with a purchase of $19.99 or more, and free shipping on all orders to the U.S. Pretty sweet deal!
I was happy to introduce InstaNatural here on the blog earlier this month and as promised here are reviews of two more of their products. Today we’re talking argan oil. They sent me the Superior Hydration Argan Oil Hair Mask and the 100% Pure Argan Oil to try and share. Winter has been a nightmare for my hair and skin and these intense moisture products have helped revive them.
This deep conditioner is packed with a combination of ultra-hydrating ingredients, including Argan Oil, Japanese Green Tea, Shea Butter, and Coconut, Jojoba, Avocado Oils. As far as application goes, you scoop some out and apply it liberally to your strands. Leave it on for up to 15 minutes, then rinse out as normal. You can also a little bit of this as a daily conditioner (I wouldn’t use as much product as I would for a conditioning treatment).
This mask left my hair nourished and soft. It has a thick consistency that is easy to apply and clings to your strands. It rinses out clean and I found that there was no residual residue on my hair. My thirsty hair soaked this moisture up and the mask restored the shine to my locks.
Some tips for using this mask:
Work from ends to roots when applying. This is a thick, super-hydrating mask. You want to be sure to concentrate the application where you need it most. If you start at the roots, you can apply too much product and they may appear a little greasy after.
Brush the mask through your hair with a wide tooth comb to evenly distribute the product.
Pop on a shower cap to really lock in the moisture during the treatment.
Shampoo your hair after the treatment if you find that the mask weighs your hair down. Sometimes after a really intense moisturizing hair mask like this one, my hair can be a little weighed down by the conditioner. I’ve found that using a gentle shampoo afterward helps with this without undoing all the effects of the mask.
Argan oil has so, so many uses from hair to nails to skin. The important thing whenever you’re using an oil is to start with a quality pure version of the oil. InstaNatural’s Argan Oil definitely fits the bill. It’s 100% pure and certified organic, meaning there are no filler oil or diluting products. The packaging of this product is also super convenient. The sturdy glass bottle has a pump top that dispenses just the right amount of product each time. The tinted bottle also helps preserve the potency and quality of the oil.
So what can you use argan oil for? Loads of things, but here are a few:
On your legs after shaving
To restore dry cuticles
As a moisturizer (just rub a few drops onto clean skin)
To add some shine to your hair (just rub a few drops into the palms of your hands and rub over your hair)
As a bath oil by adding a few drops to your soak in the tub

Disclosure: I was provided with these products gratis for the purposes of writing this review. All opinions are my own based on my personal experiences with the products.
I love the look of loosely curled hair, but I’m pretty impatient when it comes to transforming my straight locks. When Kiss offered my the the chance to try their InstaWave, I couldn’t resist. The InstaWave is an automatic curling iron that I’ve seen on TV and at Target. I don’t know about you, but I get skeptical any time something has an “As seen on TV” logo. My first thought is “does this thing really work?” But after taking some time to experiment, I am excited to share this product with you!
So what exactly is an automatic curling iron?
The base of the InstaWave is a typical ceramic curling iron with a 1″ barrel, but instead of having a clamp it has a motorized curl dial that pulls in and wraps your hair around the barrel by holding down a button on the iron that will curl your hair in either direction.
How does it work?
Using the InstaWave is easy. First you section off a one inch piece of hair about and holding the InstaWave parallel to your hair, place it over a prong of the curl dialer. Next, press the curl dialer direction button in the direction you want your hair to curl. The curl dialer will then automatically wrap your hair around the barrel. When it reaches the end of your hair, release the button and wait 5-10 seconds. Finally, gently pull the InstaWave straight down to release the curl.
Just repeat these steps until you’ve curled the desired area of hair. Here’s a look at the before and after on the same side. I started with clean hair that had no product. You can see how straight it is naturally! Normally my hair doesn’t hold a curl to save my life, but you see I was able to achieve long, loose curls.
My Thoughts and Some Tips for Making the Most Out of the InstaWave
When used properly, this iron works great. I was able to achieve long, natural looking curls.
Tip: Vary the times you hold the curls to make some tighter and some looser.
This makes curling your hair easy. I wish I had this product when I was trying to curl my hair for our vow renewal. Halfway through my arms were exhausted and I was regretting trying to curl my hair. This product eliminates all of the effort expended to wind hair around the iron.
The ability to switch directions at the touch of a button is my favorite feature. Gone are my days of trying to remember which way I should be holding the clamp to switch the iron from side to side.
Tip: Just like with a regular curling iron, alternate directions to give you the most natural looking curls.
Follow the directions! When they say hold the iron parallel, they mean it. If you don’t you’ll end up with a mess of hair wound around the iron. If this happens, and it probably will until you get the hang of it, reverse the direction of the curl dialer to loosen the hair, then pull the iron straight down to release.
This iron gets hot, up to 420 degrees hot. Great for curls, no so great for fingers and foreheads. You’ve been warned. There are also two heat settings, so you can pick whichever is more appropriate.
Here’s the finished look! Look, romantic waves starting from just above the ears and flowing over the shoulders. A perfect look for the holidays. You can purchase the Kiss InstaWave from Target and Ulta and it retails for $59.99 (be sure to watch for sales!).
