5 Favorite Things This Week

Screen Shot 2016-04-10 at 7.00.24 PM

I’ve been on a spending freeze for a few weeks and this week the hubby treated me to a few amazing little finds.

  1. Flow Magazine Book for Paper Lovers Vol. 3 I picked this up at Barnes & Noble and it is full of amazing gems. Glitter postcards, tag, wrapping paper, wall art…I just keep looking through it over and over finding new things each time.
  2. Anemone Demi Perfume I discovered this perfume while wandering through Punch! in Federal Hill and new that I needed to add it into my rotation. It’s a well rounded sweet and floral scent that’s a perfect every day perfume.
  3. Madison Leigh Fit and Flare Party Dress I found this beauty in Burlington at Arundel Mills and thought it would be perfect to wear to one of the many weddings we’ll be attending this year.
  4.  Pineapple Cilantro Melrose Candle They had this burning today in Punch! and omg it’s delicious. It’s the only thing on this list I didn’t buy, but I’ll probably be going back for it.
  5. Lucky Feather Dreamer and Doer Necklace Another amazing Punch! find. This little beauty perfectly sums up where I’m at in my life right now.

The Single Biggest Mistake I Made as a Blogger

You may have noticed that there haven’t been posts on Dana Renee Style for a while. Unfortunately, I didn’t! It’s not because I haven’t been writing awesome content for you guys. I have NOT abandoned this blog. The truth is I made a really stupid mistake. I have been playing around with templates and making tweaks to the blog and when I do this I put Dana Renee Style in maintenance mode. This is so when I totally FUBAR everything, you don’t have to see it. Basically what this does is keeps the front end static and let’s me play on the back end. Well, after I was done tweaking, I may have forgotten to take it off. So when I was posting, I could see, but you–my most important VIPs–couldn’t. FML. So now I have a bunch of posts queued up and ready to share. Instead of blasting you with two months of content, I’m going to space it out a bit. I hope you understand. This blog is a fun creative outlet for me and it breaks my heart to have gone totally MIA. I made a commitment a few months ago to breathing some new life into this space and I intend to stick with it!

Big hugs on a lazy Sunday, Dana

Raw Spirit Perfume

I am always on the lookout for a new perfume. It’s such an easy thing to change up from day to day, but can really impact the way you feel. When Raw Spirit reached out to me to try one of their signature scents, I jumped at the chance.

The perfume they scent me to try was a rollerball of their Desert Blush. This perfume is wonderful in a way that’s hard to convey over the internet. It has a warm and spicy scent that has just a hint of floral to give it some sweetness. This scent is the perfect vacation scent and it’s already on the packing list for our trip to Mexico in November (if it lasts that long!).

The perfumes themselves are an amazing quality. The scents last all day on the skin, so you don’t have to waste product reapplying. I also appreciate the brand itself. Raw Spirit celebrates using natural ingredients sourced from around the world and this mission is clearly reflected the second you take a sniff of their product.

The company also works with Indigenous and marginalized communities, either directly or through partnerships, to sustainably source rare and unique natural ingredients for their fragrances. From these ingredients they create high quality, luxury fragrances that not only smell incredible—they also create economic opportunities for the communities from which we source. This is absolutely a company that I can stand behind.

If you’ve never heard of Raw Spirit, I encourage you to check them out. They have a Discovery Set where for $20 you can try out 6 of their scents to figure out which one is best for you. Me? I’m sticking with Desert Blush.

Disclosure: I received a gratis sample for the purposes of writing this review. All opinions are my own based on my personal experiences with the product.

#Give12Project January

January: The Nail Fairy

For  the second month of Give 12 Project, I’m excited to be donating 12 bottles of nail polish to The Nail Fairy. The Nail Fairy was a project started by Tina Ngo of Tina’s Traveling Nails. As her own way of giving back, Tina dons a tutu and fairy wings and travels to the children’s wards of local hospitals to treat the kids to a fun and special manicure. I think this is an absolutely amazing project and hope to be able to organize a local nail fairy event here in Baltimore in the future. In the meantime, if you’d like to make a donation to her project, she is currently requesting Fairy Wings, Temporary Tattoos, Nail Polishes, Nail Art Supplies, Tutus, and Fun T-shirts for “Themed Fairy” outfits. Find mailing information for where to donate here and you can also make a monetary donation over on her GoFundMe page.

Give 12 Project is a twelve month project that focuses on making/giving twelve of an item to a new charity each month. The goal of this project is to use passions, talents, and interests to give back in unique ways aside from just giving money. Some months may be donating from items around the house and others may require putting creative talents to work, but the goal is give 12 items to the featured organization. Each month you can check in with me here to see more about what I’m giving that month and learn more about the organization I’m giving to. I hope that this project will inspire you to give as well, whether 1 or 12 or 20! You can follow along with my project and share what you’re giving using the hashtag #Give12Project. I can’t wait to see what amazing things we all can accomplish.
